The Rotterdam City Archives preserves and collects the history of Rotterdam making it accessible and visible to the wider public. Visitors can view over 700 years of city and regional history in the reading room or on the website. The collection contains hundreds of thousands of prints, photos, films, maps, sound recordings, books, magazines, articles and more than twenty kilometres of paper archive documents.

Construction plans

Information on construction plans and building files up to and including 2010, of existing and demolished buildings in Rotterdam and the regional municipalities.
Genealogy

Historical data relating to persons, from, among others, the Civil Registry e.g. Births, Marriages and Deaths, population register, as well as passenger lists of the Holland America Line and Lloyd Shipping lines.
Collections

Photos, prints, illustrations, topographical maps, postcards, posters, films and audio recordings from Rotterdam and the region.

Public Records

The archive holds public notary records from the period 1585 – 1935. A portion of these registers is digitised and searchable online.
Address books

The Rotterdam address books pre-date telephone books. It contains the addresses of persons and businesses in Rotterdam between 1808-1939.
Rotterdam Almanac

Search through the Rotterdam Almanac from 1888 up to present day. The almanacs contain articles on the history of the city.
