Update on the website outage

Over the past month, you may have noticed that our website did not always function properly. This was due to the site being overloaded by automatic traffic from so-called bots.

We have been working hard on a solution. Since March 25, 2026, the search function is fully operational again. You can now search our archives and collections and reserve archival items yourself.

Are all issues resolved?
Not completely yet. Together with our suppliers, we are continuing to work on a stable website so that you can use our services smoothly.

Still getting an error message?
Try reloading the page after a few minutes. In many cases, this solves the problem. If the issue persists, you can also try clearing your browser history.

Limitation of the Search Function
Our website is experiencing a high volume of automated traffic from so-called bots, which is causing the site to become overloaded. To ensure the website remains accessible to visitors, we have temporarily disabled the search function.

Unfortunately, resolving this issue is taking longer than expected. We are working to make the search function available again as soon as possible.

What is working?

  • You can search our archives and collections via www.archieven.nl. For each search entry on our website, you will find a button that links directly to the correct page on Archieven.nl.
  • You can still view our (Dutch) news and stories pages.
  • All forms are working, such as: make an appointment, contact form, acquisition form.

What is temporarily not working?

  • You cannot search our collections via our own website.
  • You cannot request documents yourself.
  • You cannot submit 'Scanning on demand' requests.

Requesting documents

Would you like to view archive documents?

Please make an appointment using the appointment form. Our staff will then request the documents for you.

Do you have any questions? Please feel free to contact us using the contact form or by telephone on +31 (0) 10 267 55 55.

Thank you for your understanding.
